PM UAE visit: UAE declared to build temple in Abu Dhabi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, began his two-day visit to the strategic Gulf nation today and the UAE declared to allot land for building a temple in Abu Dhabi.

In Dubai, there are already two temples, one is of Lord Shiva and the other is Lord Krishna. But there are no such temples in Abu Dhabi. Finally the UAE decision to build temple in Abu Dhabi, made PM Modi happy and regarding this, he thanked the UAE leadership.

Reacting on this issue, the external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted, “A long wait for the Indian community ends. On the occasion of PM's visit, UAE Govt decides to allot land for building a temple in Abu Dhabi, PM @narendramodi thanks UAE leadership for this landmark decision."

Out of the total population in UAE, 30 per cent are Indians, which accounts to 2.6 millions in number.

The real importance of the UAE for India lies in its mind-boggling investment potential, but this has become a tough job for Congress government in the past, where Man Mohan Singh, could not move UAE. But it is Modi, who is successful in it, at least to some extent.

Why is UAE, a key country to India?

On the other hand, investments are not the prime reasons that make the UAE a key country for India. Along with that, UAE also has a huge oil reserves. UAE has the world’s seventh largest oil reserves and the seventeenth largest gas reserves. With total FDI from UAE to India pegged at three billion dollars, UAE is India’s biggest investor.

In the wake of the Islamic State (IS) entrenching itself in the region, the significance of has increased even further on the security front. In fact, this is the reason for PM Modi, who is trying to maintain close relations between the two countries.
