Protesting against the central government for the special status for Andhra Pradesh, Communist Party of India (CPI) called for a state bandh today.
All the opposition parties like Congress, YSRCP, CPM, Aam admi party, Lok satta had extended their support for CPI, for their bandh.
Regarding this, the private and government educational institutions and all the business centres in Andhra Pradesh are closed voluntarily. Keeping in mind the inconvenience of the travellers, the petrol bunks will be opened after 3 pm.
The student organisations are raising the protests holding the flags and the placards. The RTC buses are completely left in the depots itself, as the CPI leaders obstructed a few of the buses on the road.
YSRCP bandh for AP special status on August 28th
Not only CPI party, the opposition parties are one by one calling for bandh in Andhra Pradesh state, for AP special status. Especially, the reaction from all the parties went viral after Muni Koti’s death.
After CPI bandh today, YSRCP announced that, the party is going to conduct a state bandh on August 28th.
"While the BJP was in opposition, it was vociferously asking for special status to Andhra Pradesh for ten years and included it in its 2014 election manifesto as well," a YSRCP release quoted Jagan Mohan Reddy as saying at a protest held by his party at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
"However, after coming to power, it has changed the tune and is blaming Finance Commission and searching for reasons to evade the special status issue while TDP has been silent in the bargain for not opening cases against AP CM Naidu and other leaders on the serious charges they are facing," Jagan added.
What is the use of special status?
Special status enables Andhra Pradesh to get more percentage of funds from the centre in the form of grants. The state will also be exempted from many taxes and duties, which will further attract the investors and thus lead to the development of the state.
This is why the opposition parties are more stressing on the special status issue and let us see, how far YSRCP bandh in Delhi, moves the centre.
