Hindu Goddess Maa Kali has taken over New York's Empire State Building as part of an artwork exhibition by filmmaker Louie Psihoyos called Projecting Change, to raise awareness about the need to conserve endangered animals. The Hindu goddess is known as the goddess of time, change, power and destruction. The portrait is displayed on New York's iconic building and was designed by artist Android Jones.
The program Projecting Change began by showcasing the pictures of endangered animals with the help of San Francisco based Obscura Digital, to highlight the alarming rate in which species are dying. The show ended with the representation of Kali.
The image of Cecil The Lion was also part of the show. Cecil was one of the oldest and most famous lion in the Zimbabwe and was allegedly killed by an American hunter recently.
Artist Android Jones has designed the fierce portrait of Kali, who is believed to be the Goddess of Time, Change, Power and Destruction, to make the point that Mother Nature is now more than ever needs a fierce avatar to fight the dangers of pollution and extinction.
It was the most captivating artwork exhibitions by the filmmaker Louie Psihoyos, which projected pictures of endangered creatures onto the NYC skyline with San Francisco based Obscura Digital. It was meant to spark awareness on the massive wildlife extinction and to draw attention to the alarming rate at which the species are dying. The show ended with the representation of Maa Kali, the goddess of darkness, beseeching people world over to fight the darkness and to take up conservation.
It was a perfect image to display the ecological consciousness and how badly the Mother Nature needs a fierce avatar to fight the dangers of pollution and extinction. Apart from Maa Kali, Cecil the lion, and other hundreds of nameless endangered animals were showcased in the Empire State Building.
