LK Advani clarified that his emergency remarks were directed at the congress, but not any individual. He opined that for the events of 1975, the party needs to apologize the country. 

In a newspaper interview given on Thursday, Advani raised few controversial issues saying that the democracy is getting crushed day by day, so there is an every chance of another emergency soon. The remarks were interpreted in the media as a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
 
Advani said he was always opposed to “one-man shows” and “dictatorships”, and suggested that if the present day leaders are modest like former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, then it would be inspirable to the citizens of the country.
 
Advani repeatedly specified that his comments are not aimed at any specific individual, but the congress party.

"I did not mean any individual when I made that statement. I am opposed to all kinds of dictatorships,” Advani told Aaj Tak news channel. He added, "Arrogance breeds authoritarianism. Today's leaders should be modest like Vajpayee.”
 
"If I am worried about the future of Indian democracy it is because no senior leader of the Congress has come out and expressed remorse about what the party did in 1975," he told to a private news channel.

Kejriwal reaction on Advani’s comments

Reacting to the interview of Advani, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed his opinion through social networking site. His tweet read: "Advani ji is correct in saying that emergency can't be ruled out. Is Delhi their first experiment?" and sought a meeting with Advani, where the latter cancelled the meeting citing prior engagements as the reason.
