Death toll rises in Telugu states due to the heat wave

There is no fall in the deaths in the country. The heat wave is still sweeping away many people all around, especially Telugu states.

As per the latest reports, there are 1020 deaths in Andhra Pradesh alone and 340 in Telangana due to the heat wave. Among these, 168 deaths were reported only on Wednesday in AP and 74 in Telangana.

Y K Reddy, Director of Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad said that, the heat wave continues to be same for the next two days in Telangana and three days in Andhra Pradesh. “The main reason for the number of deaths is due to the exposure of the skin to the sun for long hours”, he opined.

Number of deaths in Andhra Pradesh:

In Prakasham district alone, the number of deaths is 202, in Guntur, the count is 130 which is followed by Visakhapatnam (112), Vizianagaram (78) and Nellore 74.

The toll in other districts was East Godavari-90, West Godavari 10, Krishna 49, Chittore 29, Kadapa 22, Kurnool 17, Anantapur 14, Srikaukulam 25. The government had issued an alert to doctors to be ready to provide medical assistance to the heat wave-affected people.

Deaths in Telangana:

In Telangana, Nalgonda recorded the maximum number of deaths at 99, followed by Khammam 72, Karimnagar 45 and Mahabubnagar 37, a senior official of State Disaster Management Department told PTI. Medak recorded 29 deaths, Adilabad 22, Nizamabad and Warangal 11 each followed by Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy at 7 each, the official said. 43 deaths due to heat wave are reported from Odisha while seven have died in Gujarat.

Compared to Andhra Pradesh, though the number of deaths in Telangana is less, the impact of heat wave on the public is almost the same.  So, the people of both the states are advised to take fluids regularly and not to be under the sun for more time.
