Pakistan's former military dictator General Pervez Musharraf said the Pakistani Army "caught India by throat" and that India will never forget the war. "There was a second line force, too, which caught India by the throat and that was later given the status of the Army," Musharraf said, while addressing a ceremony of his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML). "We entered Kargil from four points of which India was not aware," the disgraced former President said.
“India had barely reclaimed half of the territory in one area,” he boasted, “It was the greatest military victory against India, but regrettably Pakistani politicians wasted this opportunity.” “What democracy has given this country since the time of my departure?” he questioned and said, “The public in general does not care about the system of governance, democracy or dictatorship, people only want peace and prosperity in Pakistan and the accountability of corrupt politicians.”
The disgraced ex-chief of army staff claimed that the Indian spy agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), was directly involved in Balochistan and Karachi unrest. “Indian embassies in Afghanistan are functioning as a training headquarters of terrorists, the evidences of which have been provided to the Afghan government,” he said. The Pakistan Army and its intelligence wing ISI are known for its dubious attitude in training and hosting terrorists and wage a proxy war against India due to the incapability of the Pakistan Army to face the Indian forces. The Pakistan Army and ISI cries before the world community as the victim of terrorism and begs for financial aid for fighting terrorism and uses the same financial assistance to train, host and procure arms for the terrorists.
In May 1999, India and Pakistan, clashed in the Kargil area of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir. In the spring, when the snow melted in the Kargil sector to the northeast of Srinagar, 1,000 or more infiltrators, terrorists and their counterpart Pakistan Army, crossed the Line of Control from Pakistani-occupied Kashmir into Indian Kashmir. Equipped with high-altitude warfare, snowmobiles and mortars and cover fire by Pakistani artillery from the other side of the border, they established positions at heights above 14,000 feet, overlooking the strategic vital road that connects Srinagar to Leh in Ladakh. Pakistan hoped that they would give new stimulus to the decade-long insurgency within Indian Kashmir and, in its direct impact, raises the military costs for India in Kashmir and cut the strategic highway link between Srinagar and Leh. It failed on all counts.
The then commander of Pakistan Army Musharaff started crying and went from pillar to post for getting a safe passage for his troops. The Pakistan Army, which is treacherous and useless does not have the capacity to fight from the front, and hence pushes terrorists, which they have trained and hosted to wage a proxy war against India. Musharraf after completing his term ran away from Pakistan and went into exile. The disgraced Army Chief does not have any dignity or self respect to boast about the misadventure initiated by him which has seen hundreds of Pakistani soldiers losing their life and scores incapacitated. Pervez Musharraf has to remember that the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government has given a send-off through the backdoor to the non-trustworthy, back-stabbing, boaster, when he visited India as the Pakistan Army chief, which an Army chief has not experienced anywhere in the world.
