The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked Madhya Pradesh Governor, Ram Naresh Yadav to step down from the post after he was named in the FIR in connection with a multi-crore exam scam involving politicians and government officials. Mr. Yadav has been accused of taking bribes from candidates who have applied for the Forest Guards positions in 2013. He is booked under the charges of corruption, misuse of high level official position and cheating.
As per the legal proceedings, Presidential sanction is required to charge sheet any Governor while the Special Task Force is investigating the role of Governor's son involvement in the scam. The Governor is accused of misusing the letterheads to recommend candidates and aspirants allegedly bribed government officials to make it to the list of those who cleared the test, without taking the exam.
The alleged scam involved five officials of the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board and all of them are currently in jail. The main opposition Congress party has been stressing of Governor resignation but the government was ignorant. With the Task Force naming Governor in the list, the Union Ministry was prompt in asking Mr. Yadav to quit the post with immediate effect.
