Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai said on Monday that Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba [LeT] was responsible for the assault on the Indian consulate in Herat last week. Karzai who met new Prime Minister Narendra Modi today also conveyed the same message, when Modi asked about the attack on Indian consulate.
However, LeT has denied this attack and claims by Afgan President. A man identifying himself as LeT spokesman Abdullah Ghaznavi said in a call to AFP's office in Kashmir that all the allegations made by Karzai are absolutely baseless.
The caller also clarified that their operations are limited to Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier LeT also denied many attacks like the 26/11 assault of Mumbai.
