Bharatiya Janata Party is seriously upset with the Election Commission of India for denying permission for BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. BJP planned for a rally in Beniyabagh area, which has a sizeable Muslim population but EC declined permission citing security concerns.
BJP leaders Arun Jaitley announced along with other senior leaders would sit on a dharna outside the Banaras Hindu University at 11am on Thursday in protest. The BJP leaders will also protest outside the Election Commission office in New Delhi.
EC disappointed
The Election Commission is disappointed over BJP's protest in Varanasi today. In reply to Arun Jaitley's letter, EC stated that it is not acting biased and permission for rallies and meeting are related to security issues. BJP accused Returning Officer [RO] of Varanasi for the whole episode and demanded for the removal of hi. But EC politely ignored BJP's plea.
