The Union government has decided to impose President's Rule in Andhra Pradesh according article 356 of Indian Constitution. The union cabinet which meet today morning at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence gave nod for the President's Rule unanimously. After 41 years, AP will witness President's Rule for the second time with Kiran Kumar Reddy resigning to the Chief Minister post last week in the view of bifurcation of the state.
In the year 1973 from January 11 to December 10, Andhra Pradesh has witness President's Rule when Jai Andhra agitations were at peak stage. Also the general elections in the state will be held as per the schedule.
So far about 122 times President's Rule has been imposed in several states after Independence. Currently Delhi is also under the President's Rule as Arvind Kejriwal resigned to the CM post after Jan Lokpal bill got deferred in Delhi Assembly.
