The prestigious Marine Academy will be established in the State of Andhra Pradesh in all possibilities. A land of 300 acres is also identified for the purpose.
Marine police of all Eastern States from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu will be trained in this institute. The State is already hosting Sardar Vallabhai Police Academy imparting to training to IPS and the Academy of National Industrial Security are already in the State. Now the Marine Academy is also having all the chances to come to the State.
Marine police force was created by the Central Government in 2006 to deal with the unlawful entries from the sea and other crimes connected to coastal activity. So far 21 Marine police stations are opened and the staff is taken from the police department on deputation.
But the activity of patrolling and controlling the crimes in the coastal area are different from normal police duty and it requires special training. Considering it, the Central Government wanted to make to academies for East and Western coasts. Odisha and Tamil Nadu also showed interest to host the Marine Police Academy when the Government asked for it. But the environment in Andhra Pradesh has more plus points to make it the final choice.
