Bharat Ratna Violates Code of Conduct!

Dev Bhattacharya from Noida writes Election Commission of India that the announcement of Bharat Ratna to cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and the scientist CNR Rao is a violation of election code.

He says that the haste shown by the Government in announcing the highest civilian award to Sachin when the Indians were at the height of emotional feeling amounts to influencing the voters at large on the part of Congress led UPA Government.  As such, Bhattacharya says, the move of the Indian Government is a clear violation of election code of conduct.

Complaining further that the unprecedented move to honor Sachin and CNR Rao influences cricket lovers and intellectuals when elections are going in the States, he asks the Election Commission to take suitable action against the Government that made mockery of the election code and ethics and norms as it disturbs equality among the political parties in contesting the elections.

The announcement of Bharat Ratna to Sachin and CNR RAo was made by the Government on 16th November.
