RTI Made A Step Ahead

The Right To Information (RTI) application now can be filed online.

The Department of Personnel and Training that works as a nodal department to ensure transparency in the law announced online application method through the portal of www.rtionline.gov.in.

By paying Rs.10 online for the information sought, an Indian National can ask for any information from main Minsitries and Departments of Central Government for the time being.  By the end of the month all Government Departments at Delhi will be covered.

The payment can be made through Debit/Credit cards through the same website’s platform.

The facility was first given to the NRIs last month who were asked to make an electronic Indian Postal Order payment of Rs.10/- now is extended to the Inidan Nationals.

Although the space given in the website for the text is limited to 500 words, a provision is made to send an attachment if the text exceeds that limit.

The applicants will receive alerts on their telephones.  They can also inquire by dialing 011-2462 2461 in case of any clarification required.
