Children escaped safely from the disastrous wall collapse in Moulali in Secuthat took place on Tuesday are still to know that their parents are no more. The children Anusha (5) and her brother Avinash (7) are puzzled why their parents are not visiting when so many of their relatives and so many they do not know at all are visiting the Tulasi hospital in ECIL cross road where they have been getting medical treatment. Many Government officials visited the hospital to assure them that everything will be alright.
Venkataiah and Padma parents of children died in the incident along with other couple Mahadev and Padma along with their two children. The two children in the hospital unaware of the fact that their parents, their neighbors and their friends with whom they went to school and played at home are no more are still waiting to meet them.
Whenever they questioned about their parents, they were getting a stock answer that they will be coming soon to see them and the topic was diverted to some other things or some toys are given to play with.
Although their condition is stable now and fit to discharge from the hospital the question before the authorities is to whom their custody should be given. They were treated under Arogya Shree and they are entitled for the ex-gratia but a decision is not yet taken as to the custody of the children whether to give to their relatives or to the State Home.
Although the looks words of solace given and concern shown by all added to which the long delay in their parents’ visit are giving room for some suspicion in the minds of the children, they are trying to believe the words of the people around that their parents are going to visit and take them as their mind is not ready to accept anything else. They do not have enough exposure and knowledge to assume that they are orphaned!
