A former union minister and cousin to Rajiv Gandhi, Arun Nehru breathed his last on the night of 25th July. Arun Nehru was a powerful personality during the period when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister.
In the 1980's the former internal security minister was a close adviser to Rajiv Gandhi but had differences with him later. Aged 69, Nehru was admitted two weeks ago at Fortis Hospital in Gurgaon. A long standing illness had finally taken his life.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters. Arun Nehru was once a successful player in the corporate world and later a three-time Lok Sabha member.
