The famous Telugu writer Tripura who had been ailing for some time died today undergoing treatment in a private hospital. He was 85.
Rayasam Venkata Tripurantakeswara Rao popularly known as Tripura is known for his short stories in Telugu. He wrote 15 short stories that were liked by many Telugu writers like Palagummi Padmaraju, Vakati Pandurangarao, Abburi Gopalakrishna, Chaganti Tulasi and many others. In his stories he brought the human feelings with unmatched description to take the readers deep into the theme. His story telling was commendable with brisk pace and in-depth description of human sentiments.
Tripura was not a famous figure. But he was known well in the literary circle.
Tripura was born and brought up in Visakhapatnam and studied in AVN College at Visakhapatnam and in Banaras Hindu University and worked for Maharaja Beer Bikramsingh College, Agartala, Tripura State and retired as its Principal. He might have used Tripura as his pen name because of his long association with Tripura State also in addition to the short form for his name Tripurantakeswara Rao.
