Former IAS official and the accused in Obulapuram Mining Company case, Sri Lakshmi has been released from Chanchalguda jail on interim bail. It is known that the CBI court has recently extended her interim bail and therefore she was released. Sri Lakshmi was apparently one of the leading bureaucrats in Andhra Pradesh who reportedly played an active role in YSR regime.
However, she was accused to allotting lease of mining land on Andhra Karnataka border to the then Karnataka tourism minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. When CBI started looking into the alleged irregularities during YSR regime, they reportedly came across the files that sanctioned mining lease to Gali who was presumably next in the race for that lease. Therefore, CBI took her into custody last year. She spent in judicial custody for a couple of months after which she was granted bail. However, upon the bail date expiration she was asked to surrender. According she surrendered and later on she appealed to extend the bail time. The court granted the permission and finally she came out of prison on bail.
