Sankranti is one of the biggest festivals in the state and scores of people, who have settled in Hyderabad for various purposes, return to their native places to celebrate the festival grandly with the family. Therefore, large number of people depend on road transport corporation. Keeping in view the same, Andhra Pradesh Road Transportation Corporation (APSCRTC) has decided to run 4410 buses to different parts of the state from Hyderabad.

Starting from January 10 and culminating on January 14, these buses would be charged at least 50 per cent extra since they are going to shuttle on a special basis. The RTC officials have said that reservation facility has been kept open for the special buses. On the other hand, special trains too are going to run between Secunderabad and other stations in the state in the wake of Sankranti festival.

The observers have said that it was unfair for RTC to charge 50 per cent extra fare for special services. The corporation should run the services in the best interest of the public and not mere best interest of the corporation, added observers. Anyway, people are happy that special services are going to run.
