Gang rape case: Sonia meets women protesters, assures of action

UPA chairperson met a few women protesters in Delhi who had been raising their vocie against the recent gang rape in Delhi. Sonia, who apparently met the students, reportedly promised them of stringent action against the culprits. She was said to have confirmed that UPA was serious about this case. It was reported that even Rahul Gandhi was present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, protests continued at the historical India Gate in Delhi against the recent rape on a 23-year-old medical student. The police asked the protesters to shift to Jantar Mantar but to no avail. Even as police trued to move the protestors out of India Gate, a large number of women protesters lied under the bus and blocked them. The Delhi police, on the other hand, suspended three more cops in addition to five policemen for neglecting their duties on Sunday night when the henious crime took place in the moving bus.
