DKR controversy: Police book criminal cases against Mohanbabu, 3 others

Acting on the directions of Malkajgiri court, the Hyderabad police have filed criminal cases against producer Mohanbabu, actor Vishnu, comedian Brahmanandam and director Nageshwara Reddy for producing, acting and directing respectively in comedy flick Denikaina Ready. A few days back, a person approached Malkajgiri and filed case against these four film personalities alleging that their film DKR was derogatory to certain section of people.

The police booked Mohanbabu,Vishnu,Nageshwar Reddy and Brahmanandam under following IPC sections:

  • 120
  • B153
  • A295
  • A298

The police have reportedly started their investigation. Meanwhile, Brahmin JAC (which was formed on Sunday) met the home minister Sabita Indra Reddy and submitted a memorandum of request asking the government for stalling the screening of Denikaina Ready besides taking action against actor Vishnu for allegedly ordering his private security for attacking Brahmins who were protesting outside his residence a few days back.

It may be noted that Section 120 B is regarding punishment of criminal conspiracy, 153 A regarding promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence and language, 295 A for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings and 298 regarding uttering words with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings.

People from Brahmin community have been raising voice against the screening of Denikaina Ready alleging that DKR movie contained scenes derogatory to their community.
