The apex court which has passed a judgment that the election to government units in the state have to be conducted immediately. On an issue that the state voter consensus is still pending, the court declared that the consensus of the populace as per the 2001 records could be used for the time being. The apex court was firmly bent upon the state government embarking on the elections to the local bodies. Well now this will surely be a litmus test for most parties in the state.
The state is right now gripped by a three party confrontation, as of this day. The first is the ruling Congress which already is in shaky grounds. The recent by elections debacle is sure to have an impact on the state while the local elections are conducted. Hence the ruling party needs a strong agenda and stronger leader to take the Congress on the winning lap. But have they got an abled leader to take things forward is another big question. Already many ministers are accused of various charges in the controversial GOs case, during the late Y S Rajashekar Reddy era. Now they can neither blame him nor claim his legacy.
Next comes the age old horse Telugu Desam Party (TDP). This party is smitten by the attrition bug and many leaders have shifted loyalties. While critics claim that the reason for attrition is mainly due to the political uncertainty prevailing between the Nandamuri clan and the party President. Some others say that the party leader had lost his credibility and many are refraining from betting him as a winning horse. However the party says that the old and rotted have departed and the strong are still with the party. They say that the party stats have not depreciated due to the attrition. But political observers feel that the two community dominated seat of the TDP strong hold have shifted to YSR Congress party during the recent bypolls. This could ring alarm bells to the party high command.
On the third front we have the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSR Congress party. With Jagan inside how long will he able to run the show is another question which many political whiz(s) are seriously trying to find answers. And that too the party has been dormant for quite sometime since the leader had gone into hibernation after the CBI impact. Will they be able to pull up the coup once again with Sharmila and Vijayamma out on the roads!
With so many road blocks, what will be the possible out come, is worth watching more interestingly, than a Tollywood pot boiler, say sources. However the situation in Telangana is crystal clear that the regional Telangana Rastra Samithi will go all out to get its seats and will prove the need for a separate state once again, provided Jagan is still with out any plan, which is unlikely.
