Hearing on Mopi bail plea deferred

The court has deferred the hearing of the bail petition of the ex minister, Mopidevi Venkataramana to August 7. The CBI Court, which accepted the bail plea of Mopidevi, has heard his bail plea today and deferred it to seventh of this month. The court has also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to list out the objects for sanctioning bail to Mopidevi Venkataramana.

It may be recalled that the CBI, which is probing illegal assets case, has arrested the then minister Mopidevi Venkataramana on May 24 and charged him with criminal conspiracy, fraud, falsification of accounts and criminal breach of trust in special connection with Vanpic deal.  He has been lodged at Chanchalguda jail under judicial custody since then. Following the arrest, Mopidevi resigned for his excise ministry post, which was swiftly accepted by the chief minister.
