K.V. Brahmananda Reddy, the Indian Railway Accounts Service official who was arrested in the disproportionate case of the YSR Congress Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, had applied for bail. The CBI today had filed a counter against the bail in the special CBI court. The arguments have been posted to August first.
Brahmananda Reddy served as special secretary in the infrastructure department in which controversial deals such as Vanpic were struck. The government of Rajasekhara Reddy had allotted 5,500 acres of land to VANPIC in Prakasam and Guntur districts. He allegedly issued government orders benefiting companies which invested in the businesses of Jagan.
He was later the MD, AP Aviation Corporation, which owned the Bell copter that crashed in the Nallamala forests, killing YSR on September 2, 2009. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
