The Tirupathi express which was scheduled upto Madurai will now be extended upto Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. This new train would connect two prominent pilgrim centres in the South. The Rameswaram–Tirupathi express was flagged off at Rameswaram by the Tamil Nadu Textiles Minister S.Sundararaj on Monday.
The Rameswaram-Tirupati Express train would be operated tri-weekly. The train will leave Tirupati on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays and Rameswaram on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Speaking on the occasion the state minister requested the railway authorities to provide a daily train between Rameswaram and Madurai. He also urged that the Rameswaram–Coimbatore train services have to be restored. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
