Devotees thronging Srisailam Temple will be making sure that they will be having a glimpse of sikharadarshanam (visiting the sanctum sanctorum from atop a hillock) believing that they be attaining salvation. But, due to the increasing number of cottages around the temple, devotees are finding it tough for noticing the sanctum sanctorum. The devotees have expressed their anguish over the same. In fact, some of them told AndhraWishesh that if the same continues, it would be very tough to locate the sanctum. The temple authorities should notice the interests and sentiments of the devotees and ensure that no cottage obstructs people to view sikaram (sanctum sanctorum).
The legend has it that Lord Sri Rama viewed sikaram from the hillock in Nallamala forest, which is 2,830 feet above the sea level. Srisailam is one of the Shivaite destinations and Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi self manifested here as Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramarambika Devi.
