The Andhra Pradesh High Court has accepted the petition filed by the state government challenging the decision of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) setting aside Dinesh Reddy as DGP of the state. It may be noted that an IPS official challenged the appointment of Dinesh Reddy as DGP citing his experience. The CAT, which accepted the plea, has termed the appointment as null and void. It further directed Andhra Pradesh Government to appoint another IPS official as the Director General of Police.
Unhappy with the award of CAT, Dinesh Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Government filed separate petitions in the High Court recently. The court accepted government's petition and deferred the hearing of the case to July 11.
