Engineering education has become something common than arts and commerce graduate courses. Reason being there are plenty of engineering colleges that can guarantee seats engineering aspirants provided they get qualified (pass marks) in the entrance examination (EAMCET). Earlier, there used to competition and now the scope for competition doesn't exist at all for engineering undergraduate courses.
The situation has turned worse in 2012. The available seats are more than the qualified students. It is known that EAMCET results were declared on June 29 and the people who got qualified (minimum pass marks) are 02,07,473. So, all those who got less than 50 per cent marks in the entrance examination will pursue engineering education for prescribed government fees. In fact, the available seats are 3.21 lakhs. So there are more than 1.5 lakh seats that will be vacant this year. Educationists are of the opinion that engineering colleges should be reduced so that candidates without enough merit will have no scope to become engineers for name sake.
