Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Madan B Lokur was given a warm farewell on Friday as he has been appointed as the Supreme Court Judge. The State Judges hosted a farewell party in his honor. Speaking on the occasion the former CJ said the watch dog on corruption must be in the ambit of the legal system in the form of a firm vigilance. He said that it was unfortunate to have a few corrupted people in the society.
Adding that such incidents ruin the society and are scars on the legal system. The CJ was probably speaking keeping in mind of the suspension of the First additional CBI Judge T. Pattabhi Ramarao allegedly received Rs.5 Cr for granting bail to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, the key accused in Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) illegal mining case. The cash was stashed in the lockers belonging to the kin of the Judge as per the CBI.
It may be noted on Thursday it was the CJ who had issued the suspension verdict on the special judge on corruption charges and ordered an inquiry against him. (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
