The CPI state secretary Narayana has demanded the CBI to seize the illegal assets. Reacting on the arrest of the minister Mopidevi Venkataramana, Narayana has said that although the arrest was unfortunate, he welcomed it. Narayana has also demanded that the remaining ministers including Sabita Indra Reddy, Kanna Laskhminarayana, Geeta Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao should also be arrested.
It may be noted that the CBI, in a sensational move, arrested the excise minister Mopidevi today in connection with Jagan illegal assets case. Notably, this is the first time in the state that a minister is put behind the bars.
The arrest of the minister was not only welcomed by the opposition parties but even the ruling party members. Several Congress leaders said the law will take its own course and no one will be spared. Meanwhile, the arrest of Mopidevi became a talk of the town. The people who gathered at tea shops at several places in Hyderabad have hailed the prompt action of the CBI. They even speculated that Jagan would be arrested after CBI inquiry on May 25. (Phani)
