State continues to debate on Jagan's controversial statements

“Me and Vayalar Ravi haven’t met so far. I am condemning his news. I am asking him not to make such baseless statements.”

-DGP Dinesh

“Time and again Jagan is talking of arrest. Is he a freedom fighter?”

-Chandrababu Naidu

“I was not in Hyderabad for the past two days. All allegations by Jagan are baseless. I don’t have the need to respond to them.”

-Vayalar Ravi

Switch on any news channels in AP, the hot topic and question of the day is ‘Will Jagan be arrested in four days?’  The moment Jagan made controversial statements on his speculated arrest, it raised to interesting debates and discussions on televisions and even became a national news.

It may be noted that YSR Congress party chief Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday alleged a high level conspiracy to put him behind the bars in a couple of days. He alleged the conspiracy was aimed at stopping the by-polls by resorting to violence by TDP and Congress parties in his name after his arrest. He said he even wrote letter to the prime minister Manmohan Singh and the Election Commission.

The names taken by Jagan in the alleged conspiracy include AICC political observer to state, Vayalar Ravi, DGP Dinesh, TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and even the CBI. He made these statements during the by-election campaign.

Now that a few names that he mentioned have told the media that the allegations were baseless, several questions are being discussed at tea shops and road side pan shops.  Was the current allegation aimed at gaining sympathy or a move to gather public support against his suspected and speculated arrest? Are the questions overheard at many places.

Meanwhile, some political leaders are crying foul on Jaganmohan Reddy. One of them is TDP leader Revanth Reddy who had been reminding of possible untoward incidents in the state in case Jagan is arrested. Earlier, Revanth Reddy alleged the followers of Jagan attacked Reliance Stores in the state. He even mentioned that late chief minister Chenna Reddy alleged late YSR’s role in communal clashes that took place in the old city only to bring the former one down.

Reacting to the current statements, Revanth Reddy has said that it looked like Jagan wants to hold someone responsible for the untoward incidents that are suspected to take place in the state after the arrest of the latter.

We have to wait and see for the response of the prime minister and election commission in this regard as Jagan said he wrote letters to PM and EC.  (Phani)
