Have you seen the movie Hyderabad Blues? Whether the movie’s plot suited the title or not, the title best suits to the Nawabi City’s current situation. Drought is all set to hit Hyderabad.
The ground water officials in Hyderabad have warned the possible drought situation in Pearl City. Their observations indicate that the Hyderabad ground water has reached to an alarming level that after 60 days the people in the Nawabi City are most likely to suffer from water problems. While Hyderabadis are already facing problems over their bathing needs, they are going to face drinking water problem too in the near future.
Already water tankers in Hyderabad ply like city public transport buses as every other building in Hyderabad dial a water tanker once in every two days. This has, in fact, become a regular affair to all Hyderabadis.
Further, water levels at Osmansagar and Himayathsagar-primary drinking water sources in the city-has fallen down drastically. On the other hand, the force of Manjeera water has also thinned. This made the water department to cut-short supply of Manjeera water to half-an-hour from the earlier two hour. In order to put a check to the depletion of ground water, the water department has imposed a complete ban on digging bore well.
But, do you think this ban will really help out? Chances are very grim as the ground water level has already reached the alarming level. If people in Hyderabad have to forget bore water in near future, then new employees and others will definitely shift their focus from Hyderabad to some other city. (Phani)
