Ramoji has fresh trouble, IT likely to probe his firms

There seems to be no end to the legal or other troubles being faced by media baron Ch. Ramoji Rao.

The fresh headache for him is in shape of a complaint to the IT authorities by veteran journalist ABK Prasad and auditor Vijayasai Reddy. Prasad has been resting in an old age home while Vijayasai Reddy has been languishing in Chanchalguda jail after being arrested in Jagan’s illegal properties case.

Yet, they took time to lodge complaint to the IT Commissioner-4 of Hyderabad against Ramoji Rao seeking probe into tax evasion by him to the tune of Rs.1250 Cr.

They alleged in the complaint that Mr Ramoji Rao avoided assessment of over Rs 3,550 crore with tax evasion of over Rs 1250 crore (excluding interest) by him and his business concerns in the past six years.

Ramoji has already been deep up to his neck fighting legal battles in various cases. The prominent among them was the cheating case filed by a land owner in Visakhapatnam with regard to the leased land on which his Eenadu office was constructed long ago.

Ramoji has been facing a legal case in an Odisha court for avoiding payment of rent to the land lord whose premises were taken on lease by his firms.  (JUBS)
