Even as some AP congress leaders began their lobbying in Delhi seeking party tickets for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections from the state, party spokesperson Renuka Choudary’s name is being heard prominently as one of the candidates.

The term of four Rajya Sabha members from AP is coming to an end in April and elections will be held to fill the vacancies.

Reports said Congress leadership has almost made up its mind on the candidature of mega star Chiranjeevi as one of the party candidates and Renuka Choudary will be the second party candidate. Party leaders are lobbying fiercely for the rest of the seats.

According to sources, both CM Kirankumar Reddy and Deputy CM Damodar Rajanarasimha, apart from PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana, are likely to support her candidature.

Renuka Choudary is from Khammam district and previously held the Women’s Welfare portfolio at the Centre. She is considered to be very close to party president Sonia Gandhi.  (JUBS)
