With the induction of the two PRP members into the state cabinet, the focus has now shifted to the inclusion of the PRP boss Chiranjeevi himself into the Union Cabinet.
Five members, including the former union Minister and veteran Tollywood director Mr Dasari Narayana Rao will retire from the Rajya Sabha around May leading to fresh elections to the upper house from AP.
As the reports indicated, the Congress will get Chiru elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state in place of Dasari Narayana Rao for facilitating the mega star’s entry into the central cabinet. In such a case, the actor-turned politician will resign his Tirupati seat.
Now, the question is who will represent the Tirupati seat in the congress once Chiru quits it on his way to the Union Cabinet.
Sources said the congress will gamble on the candidature of the mega star’s wife Surekha as its final choice to keep the Tirupati seat in its pocket. While there is no deep discussion on the issue as yet in the congress circles, sources said the congress bigwigs had alerted the actor on his wife’s proposed candidature for the Tirupati seat in the possible by election.
However, it is not sure whether Chiru’s wife Surekha will enter the political arena by agreeing to contest the by election from Tirupati.
On the other hand, former heroine Roja is likely to be fielded by the YSR congress leadership as she turned a powerful bête-noir of Chiru. Additionally, Roja also hailed from Tirupati. (JUBS)
