An engineering student of AP, doing his third year in Amrutha Engineering College in Bangalore, committed suicide in his hostel room on Friday.

Mr Jitendra, hailing from the Nellore district, was found hanging to the ceiling fan in his room in the afternoon hours. His classmates and other students alleged that the hostel warden had provoked him into committing suicide over a petty issue.

“For the last few days, the hostel warden has been harassing Jitendra. He was provoked into ending his life by the warden,” students had alleged.

While the students have demanded action against the warden and resorted to a flash strike on the college campus, the warden and his assistants are on the run. “We have sent teams to nab him,” said a police officer. (JUBS)
