Cold wave sweeps AP, 3 killed

A severe cold wave has been sweeping across Andhra Pradesh affecting normal life in several districts. Three persons were killed due to the impact of the cold wave in Gudipudi village of Sattenapalli mandalam in Guntur district today.

With the Lambasingi village in the Visakha agency area witnessing a minus 1 degree Celsius in the last two days, the meteorology department has warned of continuity of the cold wave conditions for the next two to three days in all areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

While the Chintaplly area in Vijayanagaram district recorded a temperature of 1.5 degree Celsius, the water is getting frozen in the Manchangi Puttu area because of the minus temperatures.

Due to the severe cold wave sweeping across the Europe and Siberian regions, the entire north India came under its impact. And most of the areas in Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are witnessing lowest temperatures.

Old people and the footpath dwellers are the most affected adversely because of the unbearable cold wave. Flight services across AP are also adversely affected due to the presence of thick columns of fog around airports. (JUBS)
