CBI custody of Vijay Sai extended till Jan 17

The special economic offences court of Nampally in Hyderabad today extended till Jan 17 the CBI custody of Mr Vijay Sai reddy, accused number 2 in the illegal properties case involving the YSR Congress president Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy.

The CBI, investigating the case, produced Mr Vijay Sai in the economic offences court as the special CBI court judge Mr Nagamaruthi Sarma was on leave and sought extension of his custody to enable its officers to interrogate him further.

The CBI informed the court that Vijay Sai didn’t speak anything during the first three days of his 5-day custody which ended on Monday. “He seemed to be spilling the beans during the last two days and we need his further custody,” said CBI in its petition.

The CBI also informed the court that several persons had given statements and come forward to be witnesses after his arrest. “We need to get more information from him,” said CBI in its petition.

Accepting the CBI plea, the court asked the agency officials to interrogate Vijay Sai between 10 am and 5 PM in the presence of his lawyers as they did earlier. (JUBS)
