Doctor depicts woman in obscenity, gets jail

The CID police of Hyderabad had arrested a medical graduate for creating fake profiles of a US based Indian woman techie on the internet and using obscene photographs in the profiles.

Police said Mr Manohar, 29, completed his MBBS three years ago and got a seat in the PG course at the AIIMS at Delhi. But he never joined the course.
Manohar used to give missed calls to people on random numbers and some people used to call back later. Manohar used to ignore if the callers were males and respond in case they were females.

Police said he used to develop friendship with girls and he came across a software girl over a period of time. The girl used to talk to him whenever he called and the phone friendship continued for one year but the girl never met the guy.

When he proposed after one year of phone conversations, she bluntly refused. He then developed a grudge against her and used to send obscene SMSs and emails to her, according to police. After the girl married and left for the US, he created her fake profile on Orkut with obscene proposals.

Apart from creating the profile, he used to send proposals and requests in her name to many people including her friends and colleagues. However, her friends alerted her about the fake profile following which she informed her parents in India. Her parents lodged a complaint to the police one month ago.

The CID police, who investigated the case, tracked Manohar though his IP address and arrested him on Monday. Police had booked cases against him under sections 66-A, 67 of the IT (Amend) Act 2008 and sections 507, 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and produced him before the Nampally criminal court. He was remanded to 14 days judicial custody. (JUBS)
