Srilakshmi approaches Supreme Court

Tainted IAS officer Srilakshmi today filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the orders of the AP High Court suspending her bail in the illegal mining case involving the former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan reddy.

The High Court suspended her bail on Monday and directed her to surrender before the special CBI court on or before Jan 6.

The special CBI court granted bail to Srilakshmi, accused number 4 in the illegal mining case on Dec 2 after she spent one day in Chanchalguda jail as the CBI charge sheet didn’t mention her name. CBI then challenged the suspended IAS officer’s bail in HC.

While cancelling her bail, the High Court found fault with Srilakshmi and commented that the witnesses may be influenced by her in case she was set free on bail. “All the accused in the case are in jail and she alone can’t move outside,” said the court.

Meanwhile, CBI Joint Director Mr VV Lakshminarayana told journalists in Hyderabad today that they had filed caveat petition in the Supreme Court on Sri Lakshmi’s bail.

“We will file the supplementary charge sheet in the illegal mining case in the next 20 days and we are also on the job of seeking the Centre’s permission to include her name in the supplementary charge sheet,” he said. (JUBS)
