As the first step for conducting elections to primary agricultural cooperative societies (PACS), Minister for Cooperative Societies Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy announced on Thursday at Anaparthi in East Godavari District. He said the proposed elections for the PACS would be held in May next year.
The Minister addressed a group of journalists in the district and made an announcement that the PACS elections would be held in the last week of May and notifications in this regard will be issued shortly.
The elections to PACS are being held on a non-party basis but political parties will field their nominees. Cooperative Societies are Organizations that are registered under one of the Cooperative Societies Acts. They work as independent economic enterprises. They extend various services that include finance to its members and member organizations.
