Chiru in 8-member Congress Co-ordination committee

To revamp the feuds at the party level and to work out a consensus between the government and the party, a Coordination committee was formed in the state, the ruling Congress party. The committee was formed by the AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Gulam Nabi Azad, on Thursday. The eight member panel headed by Mr. Azad shall work hand in glove with the government.

Mr. Azad also said the committee shall meet on a tri-monthly basis to monitor the issues, to resolve the differences, if any, between the leaders and the cabinet members. The committee seems to enjoy the blessings of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi. As per the latest setup Congress wants to ensure effective communication between the party and the government.

Other committee members are CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy CM C Damodar Raja Narasimha, PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana, former PCC President D Srinivas, Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Tirupati MLA Chiranjeevi and former Minister Md Ali Shabbir. The earlier committee was framed in 2009 and the former PCC president D Srinivas headed the committee. Only three members of the old committee were retained in the newly formed committee.

The Praja Rajyam Party President Chiranjeevi, inclusion is considered as the first step the party has taken to placate him in wake of complaints that he was being ignored. The PRP had merged with the Congress unconditionally. There were sporadic reports of a growing dissent among the members of PRP. PRP is a strong force felt by the high command to face the Y S R Congress, on the electoral battle field.
