Asservartham Achary, a key witness in the 2G spectrum case and a former aide of the former communications minister Mr A. Raja, today told the Special CBI Judge O P Saini of Delhi that he faced a threat to his life.
He said the person who has been threatening him was also present in the court but he ran away when he made the mention of the threat. Immediately, police personnel doing duty at the court, pounced on the person who was running away and detained him.
When the police produced him in the court, the judge asked him for the reason for his presence in the court. The person, who identified himself as Jaiprakash, responded saying that he was bringing food and water for some of the accused in the case.
Not amused at the reply, the judge directed the police to take him into custody and interrogate him to find out the truth.
Earlier, Achary told the judge he never met the person in his life but his PSO told him that he was the same person who visited his house to meet him. “After I have informed the CBI about the threat to me and to my family members in September, I was given escort,” Achary informed the judge.
“The person who threatened me was sitting beside R K Chandolia, former private secretary to A. Raja since morning in the court,” he earlier informed the court. (JUBS)
