FIR filed against Salman Khan for assaulting anti-corruption activist

Kanpur police have registered an FIR against Bollywood hero Salman Khan on the orders of a local court for allegedly assaulting an anti-corruption activist during the promotion of his film ‘Bodyguard’ in the city in August.

When Salman Khan came to Kanpur for promoting his film, anti-corruption activist and ex IIT-ian Omendra Bharat and his supporters went to his car and tried to present a Gandhi cap to him. They also made a request to him to join their agitation. However, Salman Khan’s body guards assaulted Bharat and others.

Bharat and his supporters approached the court and filed a complaint against Salman Khan and five others. The court ordered the police to register cases against the actor and five of his security guards under sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of IPC.

A senior police official said in Kanpur that the matter is under investigation and necessary action will be taken if Salman Khan and his bodyguards are found guilty. (JUBS)
