The Peddapalli town in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh has observed bandh today in protest against the encounter killing of the top Maoist leader Mr Kishenji in the forests of West Bengal on Thursday.
Kishenji, whose original name is Mallojula Koteswara rao, hailed from the Peddapalli town and his mother and brothers live in the same town. Kishenji left the family to join the Naxalite movement 35 years ago and his wife too is a Maoist.
All private educational institutions and business organizations downed shutters voluntarily to mourn his death. Local leaders and activists of various political parties have visited Kishenji’s brother Mr Anjaneyulu to express their sympathies to the family.
Reports said the family is making arrangements to receive the body of Kishenji which is likely to arrive from Kolkata this evening or tomorrow morning after post-mortem. Kishenji’s brother’s daughter Deepika and civil liberties activist Varavara Rao are likely to accompany the body.
West Bengal Journalists visit Peddapalli town
