Tirupati congress MLA Mr Chiranjeevi said in Delhi today that the congress party president Sonia Gandhi has assured him of an apt position for him befitting his stature and standing at appropriate time.

Speaking to media persons after a 20-minute meeting with Sonia, he said she had promised to provide suitable positions to capable leaders in the party. “She told me I will be rewarded with a suitable position in tune with my status at the most appropriate time,” he said.

This is the first meeting of Chiranjeevi with Sonia Gandhi after he merged his PRP with the congress party.

“I didn’t seek any particular position for me in the party or in the government,” he replied to a query. Chiru said that Sonia told him that a discussion was going on in the party on the responsibilities to be given to him. “I discussed state politics but there was no particular discussion on the possible reshuffle of the cabinet,” he said.

Regarding the UP Chief Minister Mayawathi’s plans to divide the state into four states, Chiranjeevi accused her of playing games for political purposes. He said he didn’t discuss the issue of Telangana with Sonia.
