Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry appointed TTD Vidwan

TTD Trust Board has appointed well known Vedic scholar and author Sri Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry as its Asthan Vidwan (Asthana Pandithulu or court scholar). The TTD administration issued a notification to this effect on Saturday.

The veteran scholar will take over his new responsibility with immediate effect, said sources close to him.

Sri Chandrasekhara Sastry, 86, is very popular in AP and among the NRI Telugus with his spiritual and Vedic discourses. He has been engaged in giving spiritual and Vedic discourses for several decades.

His programme on Doordarshan ‘Dharma Sandehalu’ became most popular among the Telugu TV viewers. For thousands of women and elders, it is the most sought after programme even today. Every Thursday, Doordarshan telecasts this programme.

Several Telugu TV channels have also been telecasting his discourses for a long time and he had contributed several articles on spiritualism.

Sri Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry, born in Amaravathi of Guntur district, won several titles for his scholarly pursuits such as “Puranopanyasa Kesari”, “Puranic Sarvabhouma”, “Savya Saachi” and Abhinava Vyaasa.

He was also honoured with the Gangadevi Eminetn Citizen Award in 1999 and Sri Rajalakshmi award in 2005.

His published books included Maha Bharatamu - Dharma Sookshma Darshanamu,Krishna Lahari and Ramayana Rahasyadarsini. His books under publication are Aryaa Shatakam and Bhagavatham Tatvam.
