The Nalgonda district unit of the Telangana political JAC today called for a 24-hour highway blockade in the district as part of the T agitation.

The JAC said it has given the sudden call for blockade of the state highways in the Nalgonda district protesting against the Government’s decision to impose power cut to the farmers of the district despite the reservoirs of Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar being full.

The blockade will apply to highways of Vijayawada-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Macharla, Narkatpalli-Addanki and Vadapalli and no vehicle would be allowed to ply on the roads till tomorrow morning, according to the JAC leaders.

As a precautionary measure, police have arrested 15 JAC leaders of the district and put Mr. B. Narender reddy, Nalgonda TRS president under house arrest.

There is a heavy police presence on the highways at Kodada, Nakarikallu, Suryapeta and Choutuppal to foil the blockade.
