Tension prevailed over Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway this morning when the Telangana protagonists resorted to Rasta Roko and stopped the police escorted-private buses arriving from Vijayawada and other coastal areas to Hyderabad at Akupamula village of Munagala Mandalam in the Nalgonda district.
They didn’t allow the buses to move forward at the Andhra-Telangana meeting points and the vehicles were stopped for nearly 2 km on the national highway.
The Telangana agitators raised slogans in favour of Telangana and argued with police. The police personnel also looked helpless and told the drivers and passengers that they could not provide any escort in the Telangana area to the buses due to raising tensions.
Angered at this, hundreds of passengers travelling in the buses staged dharna and raised anti-Telangana slogans resulting in the tension. Agitators threw stones on the buses damaging the window panes of some buses and other vehicles.
