Property worth nearly Rs. 3 Cr was destroyed as fire broke out in the factory premises of the Durga Ghee early this morning at Vijayawada. Durga ghee was the most popular brand in the coastal region of AP and it has a marketing network in several AP towns and cities besides some other cities in India.
The fire engulfed more than 80 tonnes of ghee stocked in the premises of the factory at Nunna near Vijayawada. Police suspect short circuit could have resulted in the fire accident.
Police said several fire engines have rushed to the spot but by the time they have reached most of the ghee stocks were destroyed by the fire. They said they had registered a case and would investigate.
