Textiles minister Shankar Rao has written to the high court seeking directions to the government to provide proper protection to him and to his family members as he was receiving threat calls from the supporters of YSR congress president YS Jaganmohan reddy.
Speaking to media persons in Hyderabad this evening, Shankar Rao said some unidentified persons claiming to be supporters of Jagan have been calling him and threatening to kill him after the High Court has asked the CBI to conduct preliminary investigation into the Emaar property land distribution scandal and the illegal accumulation of wealth by Jagan during his father YSR’s regime.
He said he had informed the high court that the callers were threatening to kill him if he continued to fight against Jagan and sought directions to the government to provide security to him and to his family members. “My family members are really worried,” he said.
Shankar rao said he has already brought the issue to the notice of the DGP and the Police Commissioner but no action has been taken by them.
It might be mentioned that high court ordered CBI to conduct preliminary investigations into the Emaar scandal and into Jagan’s properties based on petitions filed by Shankar rao.
